14-Day Grand Egypt Christmas & New Year Journey – Cairo, White Desert, Nile & Red Sea

Overview

This Grand Egypt Christmas New Year Journey connects Cairo, the Western Desert, the Nile and the Red Sea across one private 14-day itinerary.

Celebrate Christmas and New Year across four completely different sides of Egypt: Cairo’s ancient wonders, the surreal Western Desert, the temples of the Nile and the warm shores of the Red Sea. This private 14-day journey begins with the Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum, continues through Bahariya and a fully arranged White Desert adventure with all permits and camping logistics handled in advance, then follows the Nile from Aswan to Luxor before slowing down for four nights in Hurghada.

Christmas Eve is planned around the Western Desert experience, while New Year’s Eve becomes a relaxed Red Sea finale with a confirmed festive dinner and midnight countdown.

Your actual hotels, desert route, camping status, domestic flight, cruise vessel, cabin, Hurghada resort and festive arrangements are confirmed in writing before payment.

No hidden mandatory seasonal supplement after booking.

Some Egypt itineraries try to show you everything by moving you to a different hotel almost every night.

This one takes a different approach.

Fourteen days gives us enough time to move through four completely different versions of Egypt while still leaving space to enjoy each one.

The journey begins in Cairo.

Your first major sightseeing day combines the Giza Plateau with the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Stand beside the Great Pyramid, see the Great Sphinx and panoramic Giza landscape, then continue to GEM using a confirmed timed-entry booking.

Day 3 adds a second side of Cairo and Giza rather than repeating the same experience.

Visit Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid complex provides an earlier chapter in Egypt’s pyramid story, then continue into Historic Cairo according to the confirmed private itinerary.

The next morning, the journey changes completely.

Leave Cairo and drive west toward Bahariya Oasis.

Egypt’s official tourism portal describes Bahariya as the closest Western Desert oasis to Cairo, around 370 km southwest of the capital, and as the gateway to the Black and White Deserts.

The Western Desert section is fully arranged by Egypt Safari Travel with the required permits, an authorized local desert team, prepared 4×4 transport and serviced overnight camping included in the confirmed program.

The route includes Bahariya, selected Black Desert landscapes, desert springs or El-Heiz-area stops, Crystal Mountain, Agabat-style scenery, sandboarding opportunities and the extraordinary chalk formations of the White Desert.

Christmas Eve becomes one of the most memorable nights of the journey: a serviced desert camp with lanterns, dinner, hot drinks and stargazing along the authorized White Desert route. Our team coordinates every access and camping detail before arrival, so guests can simply enjoy the experience.

Christmas morning begins slowly.

Breakfast.

Desert or oasis sunrise according to the confirmed overnight location.

Then return toward Cairo.

You sleep in Cairo again that night rather than going directly from a desert expedition to an airport and Nile cruise.

That buffer is intentional.

On December 26, fly south to Aswan on a confirmed domestic economy flight.

Visit Philae and the Unfinished Obelisk according to the confirmed flight and cruise schedule, then board the selected Nile cruise.

For the next three nights, your ship becomes your moving hotel.

You unpack.

Meals follow the confirmed full-board plan.

The river changes outside.

According to the selected cruise schedule, visits include the core Upper Egypt route through Kom Ombo and Edfu before reaching Luxor.

In Luxor, explore Karnak and Luxor Temple, followed by the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon.

Then the journey changes again.

Leave Luxor privately and cross the Eastern Desert toward Hurghada.

The final four nights are deliberately slower.

The first Red Sea day includes a licensed boat and snorkeling experience, coordinated by the marine team for safe and comfortable seasonal conditions.

New Year’s Eve then stays largely free during the daytime.

No final marathon of monuments.

No 5 AM departure.

No rushing from the boat straight into another coach.

Instead, spend the day by the Red Sea before the confirmed evening celebration.

The New Year’s Eve arrangement may use the selected resort’s official festive program, a licensed desert-edge / Bedouin-style venue or another approved partner venue.

What the package guarantees is:

A confirmed New Year’s Eve festive dinner.

A midnight countdown.

A confirmed venue.

Private transfer if an external venue is used.

The confirmed venue provides the festive dinner and midnight countdown, with any licensed visual entertainment listed in the final schedule.

Any licensed fireworks, cold-spark or visual-light entertainment offered by the venue is detailed in the final schedule.

If not, it is not advertised as part of the package.

January 1 is intentionally slow.

Sleep later.

Have breakfast.

Enjoy the beach, pool or actual confirmed resort facilities.

Then leave Egypt on January 2—or add more Red Sea time if you aren’t ready to go home.

This package is strongest for:

  • Long-haul travelers who want one major Egypt trip rather than several separate holidays.
  • Couples who want history, desert adventure, Nile scenery and Red Sea relaxation in one journey.
  • Photographers who want four dramatically different landscapes.
  • First-time visitors with two weeks available.
  • Repeat travelers who want Western Desert time without giving up Upper Egypt.
  • Families with older children and teenagers who enjoy varied experiences.
  • Private groups who want one operator coordinating the difficult connections between regions.

The land journey is private for the confirmed party unless a service is explicitly listed as shared.

The Nile cruise vessel is shared with other cruise passengers.

The standard Red Sea boat excursion is normally shared unless upgraded to a private vessel.

Egypt Safari Travel handles the required permits, authorized desert operations, 4×4 support and overnight camping in advance as part of the confirmed journey.

But the Western Desert portion requires more thought than a simple Cairo resort stay.

  • Older children
  • Teenagers
  • Families comfortable with road journeys
  • Families who enjoy outdoor travel
  • Children comfortable with 4×4 vehicles
  • Families who appreciate beach time after sightseeing

  • GEM tickets
  • Saqqara ticket category
  • Desert vehicle capacity
  • Room arrangement
  • Domestic airfare
  • Cruise child policy
  • Cabin setup

Send each child’s exact age and preferred sleeping arrangement for the correct private family quote.

Mobility

Four Regions Mean Four Different Accessibility Levels

Cairo / GEM

GEM is much easier for many mobility needs than archaeological terrain.

Giza and Saqqara involve uneven surfaces.

Western Desert

Potential difficulties include:

  • 4×4 entry
  • Uneven sand
  • Basic camp surfaces
  • Limited medical infrastructure
  • Limited phone reception

The authorized desert team travels prepared for remote conditions, with coordinated transport, communication planning and practical support throughout the route.

Nile Cruise

Accessibility depends on vessel, gangway, elevator, deck and cabin location.

Valley of the Kings

Some tombs contain steep slopes, stairs and narrow passages.

Philae

Requires boat access.

Red Sea Boat

Boarding varies by marina and vessel.

Tell Ahmed about any mobility requirement before booking. We will check the actual Cairo hotel, desert plan, 4×4, overnight setup, domestic flight, cruise vessel, cabin, archaeological route, Hurghada resort and boat excursion before you pay.

Dietary Needs

Meals & Special Requirements

We can request:

  • Vegetarian meals
  • Vegan meals
  • Gluten-free meals
  • Allergy-aware meals
  • Child meals

across:

  • Cairo accommodation
  • Desert meals
  • Christmas Eve dinner
  • Cruise
  • Hurghada resort

Every dietary requirement must be declared before booking so each actual supplier can confirm what can safely be provided.

Share allergy details in advance and our team will coordinate them carefully with every relevant supplier.

Winter Weather

Four Regions Mean Different Winter Conditions

Cairo

December days can be pleasant.

Evenings may feel cool.

Western Desert

Daytime conditions are often comfortable in winter.

  • Closed shoes
  • Warm sleeping layers for the included desert camp

Upper Egypt / Nile

Early mornings and cruise decks can feel cool.

Hurghada

Milder Red Sea conditions are a major appeal, but:

  • Wind varies
  • Our licensed marine team selects the most comfortable safe timing
  • Swimming comfort varies
  • Boat trips may change for safety

Bring lightweight daytime clothing, sun protection and warm layers for Cairo evenings, the Western Desert camp and Nile cruise decks. Our team coordinates each outdoor experience for comfort and safe seasonal conditions.

If the sequence changes but the core included sites can still be delivered, the itinerary may be reordered.

Market Context

Why This 14-Day Structure Works

Two-week Egypt itineraries combining Cairo, Nile cruising and either the White Desert or Red Sea are well-established products in the current market.

Current listings show standard 14-day products around $1,790–$2,685, White Desert/Nile combinations around $2,070+, and more comprehensive 4-star all-inclusive packages around $4,772 per person.

The festive private journey is positioned above standard-season budget packages while remaining below many fully luxury products.

Four Completely Different Sides of Egypt

Begin beneath the Pyramids. Spend Christmas under the desert sky. Follow the Nile through ancient Egypt. Welcome the New Year beside the Red Sea.
